After a tiny hiatus and some much-needed family time, I am back. I feel like I haven’t written in forever.
Thanksgiving came and went along with 10 days off of work! The first thing that crossed my mind was, yikes– 10 days! That is A LOT. Am I going to make it? Now closing in on day 10– yes, it was long but it was SO nice to turn off all alarms and not be on any sort of schedule– not for work, school or activities.
We spent a good chunk of our vacation in Las Vegas. The kids absolutely love Vegas. The weather was great so the pool was a great activity. We stayed at our timeshare right on the strip which for now, is amazing. The kids need a kitchen. I swear they ask for a snack every 20 minutes. I don’t even know how I’d do it without a kitchen. Being able to have milk, cereal, toast, yogurt, fruit and stuff for sandwiches was key. The girls had their own “apartment” which they absolutely loved and that was a bonus for them. We played a lot of Clue, watched a ton of TV, walked more miles than they have in almost ever and were the crazy people on the strip– at night with a stroller. This was the first year that we were there where I had to explain what ‘Girls direct to your room’ meant, what kind of profession the girls in sparkly costumes were in and why there were so many advertisements on the floor with naked girls on them. Honesty is the best policy– so, within reason we explained.
We got home in time for Thanksgiving. I was feeling a little bit blah about Thanksgiving this year– I was kind of in a funk, but the kids love the Holidays. I’m not sure why they were so stoked on the holiday in which they eat Hawaiian sweet rolls and cranberry sauce, but I’m sure it has to do with marshmallows, dessert & being with family. I ate a ton and unfortunately nearly 4 days later, I’m still eating leftovers. I never thought I’d say this, but I’m pretty excited to get back into the office and have my Sparkletts water dispenser. (it’s the little things).
We hit up a ton of parks, got to the beach a couple of times, the kids saw a TON of movies and I’m ready to tackle the next 3 weeks and the kids are off again. I really am in SUCH a funk- I better snap out of it, I need to get into the holiday spirit and be jolly. So until the next– Y’all better get ready for your kindness elves or elf on the shelf. Stay tuned.
