Okay, So I’ve mentioned it before.. I read up on these Buzzfeed articles and I just get sucked into browsing amazon’s suggested products after adding them to the cart. I can’t remember what it is that I bought, probably some sort of scrub, then the dry bush came up. You know, users who bought X also bought this. I know you know. Anyway, the researcher that I am, I clicked. Duh.
So the benefits of dry brushing soften skin, improves the lymphatic system, removes dead skin and toxins, helps with cellulite. It freaking tells you this in the headline. So the next step is to obviously see what the reviews look like. Over 1000 reviews, it meets the criteria. Of course, the top reviews are usually the 5 star would totally recommend it. Well, I then check out the one and two-star reviews and just take a quick little browse. Eh, it seemed okay. Some people weren’t happy with results, others brushes looked funky but the others seemed good and positive. I threw that bad boy in the cart too.
I’ve had my dry brush forever now. It wasn’t until I spoke with a friend not that long ago and she asked me if I used a dry brush? It caught me off guard and I was like WTF? For my hair? And she said no.. for your skin. It dawned on me that I had gotten one not that long ago. Anyway, she said that her skin was SO soft and she wanted to try and do it for a month. Hmm. I wonder if I could do it for a month.
FF to 3 weeks later, I have been dry brushing before every evening shower. I’ve added yet another thing to my routine, but I LOVE it. It’s kind of like a quick little body rub/tickle and it gets the blood flowing. I like it. So from what I’ve read, you start at the feet and work your way to the heart. That’s what I do. In the beginning, it was kind of ouchy. I probably was doing it too hard and wasn’t used to the bristles– probably how my kids feel when I comb their hair. Anyway, over time it got more and more tolerable and it feels SO good. There were just a few times that I got in the shower, started to get wet and realized I didn’t dry brush. I get so mad that I skipped it. Ugh.
I don’t know about that whole cellulite thing, but my skin does feel softer. When I hop out of the shower, I put on my coconut oil and do my whole face regime and I’m ready for bed.
You can find the link to the dry brush that I use here on Amazon.
