Full disclosure, I am the worst when it comes to routine..for myself. I just cannot get it together. It really wasn’t until not long ago that I started a solid face routine. First things first, I am not a product whore. I look for products that aren’t terrible for your skin and try and go as good for you as possible. I also just recently started getting regular facials and the lady that I go to is such a product pusher (which is such a turn off for me) and I eventually break down after a few visits. Ugh. Where is my backbone!?
So with that being said, I purchased a few Dermalogica products to get me going on a mini routine. I started with the Skin Prep Scrub, clearing mattifier and oil-free matte SPF. I love everything matte. So the clearing mattifier and the matte SPF are bomb. I flat out do not like the scrub. It’s super thick and I feel like you need a lot to get scrubbing everywhere. This lady swore that my skin would me magical– *eye roll* umm, but it doesn’t even really feel clean. I prefer Acure’s Brilliant Brightening Facial Scrub. That stuff is my jam. I love that it’s organic, accessible and affordable. I love their brightening line. The best part about it is, you can get it at Target, I’ve even found it at TJ Maxx which is great- I love being able to get stuff quick, sometimes even Amazon takes too long.
So every night I wash my face alternating between a gel cleanser and a scrub; Thayer’s witch hazel toner, Eva’s skin cleansing serum, Vitamin C and Acure’s brightening night cream. For someone who went from nothing but face washing routine to this.. I’m not going to lie. It’s kind of a lot. In the morning, I wash, tone, moisturize and SPF.
I also love a face mask. I’m a Buzzfeed sucker so I’ve pretty much have bought and tried them all. I’m not sure what each one does, but I alternate and I feel like it gets the job done.
I’m not sure I notice a huge difference, but I do like having a groove. It sets the tone for bedtime and is the start of my morning. It’s the two times in a day where it’s truly just me time. It’s not a lot of time a whole 7 minutes in the evening and 20 in the morning including makeup but it helps set the tone for the what’s next to come. What skin care line or products do you swear by?
