I swear I say this at the end of every weekend, but this one was the longest weekend ever. Level with me for a minute. My work week ends Thursday, but on Wednesday nights– I’m with a baby, so it kind of goes something like this Wednesday day work, Wednesday night work, Thursday day work and right into the weekend. This weekend we had a ton of grown up birthdays to celebrate. It all started Thursday night at Old Tony’s. I haven’t been there in forever, so B and I rallied– put the kids to bed and headed down there. We got to see a ton of friends that I haven’t seen in YEARS. It felt like a party circa 2009. It was nice to see old friends and realize that things haven’t really changed– just more babies. A ton of reminiscing, laughing and a lotta guac. Bed by 12.
Friday morning hustle as usual. Just barely surviving the week filled with half days. I got to volunteer at Natalie’s school for their Multiplication Ice Cream Party! It was awesome. 30 parent volunteers for the entire 3rd grade. The kids have been studying so hard to learn their multiplication facts, and for each number they passed, they earned a topping. So parents were set up with every kind of topping and the kids walked the line filled up their bowls.
Friday night, Brendan played with a band that he hasn’t played with in nearly 8 years! Again, like Thursday, the same crew was out and it was super fun to see them in action. Thank goodness they played early because at this point I can’t even believe it’s only Friday. I SWORE it was Saturday. Sainte Rock to Standing Room for our friends’ tribute band — The only thing that could keep me out this late was the thought of truffle fries. YUM. Again, home by 12. This is going great.
Saturday– hip hip hooray! The girls get a little fire time in the AM and usually don’t fully get up until 9.. if only Travis could do the same. This guy was up at 6:30 AM. BRUTAL. This guy usually wakes up happy as a clam but I have no idea what happened, but he woke up on the wrong side of the bed. He was super whiney, cranky, demanding. HECK NO. I wasn’t going to be having any of that. I left– brewed some coffee and reevaluated the entire situation. Coffee and dino fights are our usual weekend AM routine. Everyone else is doing their own thing. Nat has a standing sleepover on Saturday’s which means that the babies are BFF’s until it’s bedtime and Zoe freaks out that she has to sleep alone. SO– every time Nat goes, Zoe is in my bed. I am NOT a co-sleeper. It’s not my thing, I just like my personal space and for how tiny Zoe is, she sure as heck takes up a TON of space. Saturday night was a super special night. We got to celebrate my friends birthday- he is the first person I ever befriended as a parent. I remember going to my first couple of Mommy & Me’s and B would always ask how the class was.. and of course, the babies are adorable, but I told him that first friend I met was Stuart. He quickly snapped back– Isn’t it Mommy & Me. Not long after did he realize why I befriended him– we are incredibly similar. The way we do things, our sense of humor and we just get along. So 8 years into our friendship and we’re still laughing. Again– home by 12! (y’all this is a record.)
Sunday I stayed in lazy clothes the majority of the day and took the kids to run errands. I was super productive. I went to my Mom’s house and picked up a few bins of clothes, took pictures of everything and I’m going to throw them up on Poshmark. (Yay, fun money!) We ended the night at family dinner. My kids had an absolute blast. They have college aged kids and they LOVE hanging out with my kids. I am shocked that they have so much energy for them. We got home tonight and Natalie said that it was the BEST NIGHT EVER. They cannot wait for their cousin to come home from New York so that they can play together– it’s the sweetest thing. Another thing that just melted my heart was my Son was SO excited to see his uncle. We don’t see him much, but Travis was STOKED on seeing him which just melted my heart.
I’m secretly thankful that I have to work tomorrow because I can’t imagine this weekend being any longer. I’ve been in bed since 8:15 and it feels SO good. I haven’t had normal sleep since Tuesday.
This week is going to be filled with shuffling the kids, shows, work, pier lighting & more work.
