Hello!
I have been absolutely MIA on the blog. I can honestly say that life has been wild, everyone has had a ton of shit going on and it has been on the back burner. Since the last time I’ve really wrote, we were on spring break and not long before that we had Ski week. Well, since then, my sister- Sabrina- turned 21, my baby sister- Hanna- committed to University of Michigan and Travis turned 4. We’ve had umpteen homework assignments, projects, talent show rehersals, band rehersals, gigs, countless grocery shopping trip and even more loads of laundry.
It’s safe to say that we’re alive and constantly moving forward.
I’m going to be quite honest, that I have been struggling with TMU. I initially started this nearly a year ago, just to keep myself accountable for something that I wanted. Not for anything for anybody else but myself. I feel like I’ve done a decent job- sure I’ve slipped up here and there, but I have yet to lose all faith.
I REALLY want to start a podcast. I guess, way back when, I was introduced to something a little bigger a little better with and I really wanted that to all go.- which clearly it hasn’t or you would’ve heard about it. So I’ve been hesitant to push the gas on this in hopes that my original concept may still come to fruition. So in the meantime, i’ll be toying with the idea of a TMU podcast. If anyone has any insight as to how the fuck to do this, lmk.
Travis’s birthday week as finally come to a close and it was a good one! I have decided that in leiu of gifts, we are doing experiences. I just feel like we are drowning in stuff, and all of us would rather get away anyhow. So last Friday, I packed up the car with an overnight bag, a crapload of snacks and picked up the kiddos from school. We headed southeast to Anaheim. We were headed to the Howard Johnson. I know, it wasn’t Great Wolf Lodge, like we did last year, but I honestly couldn’t muster the $600 for less than 24 hours. Brendan had a gig that Saturday so, anything further than a staycation just wasn’t going to happen. When we pulled up, the kiddos were so excited to see that we were at a hotel, thank goodness they didn’t catch wind that we were literally a stone throw away from Disneyland.
I really booked the hotel for Castaway Cove. It was a mini outdoor version of Great Wolf. I thought that this would be the perfect segway to summer. We have passes to Knotts Soak City (Thanks Mom)! It had 3 slides, a bucket dump, splash pond and a 1 ish foot wading pool. It was perfect! The weather was less than ideal. When I booked the stupid weather app said it’d be 87 degrees. It was fine, the kids were pumped that they got to get into swimsuits, eat snacks and cake for dinner and I didn’t have to get fully wet! I was really off my rocker because we stayed at the pool till 7 and I let the kids watch Boss Baby till 9:45. For those who know me, I’m anti-tv and I’m a stickler for a schedule but WTF, it was T’s actual birthday and the kids were STOKED.
We wrapped up birthday week with a visit from my Dad and a birthday party. I really kept it so small- daycare friends, our two closest family friends & our families. I hired Bubble Mania for T’s party. Since we did it at the same park last year and nearly had the same friends, I thought i’d spice it up. The kids had a blast with the bubbles and I would most definitely recommend them for your LO’s party. Per the usual, I ordered way too much food and we’ll be eating PBJ & tea sandwiches for the week and we’ll have enough snacks to not have to go grocery shopping for the week! Win-win! Bonus- leftover 805 and La Croix.!
Needless to say, we have been busy. I have been hit or miss and there’s still a ton of stuff coming up. Talent show, the last big school report, T is switching schools & summer. Seesh. Stay tuned.
